Life in the Crawford Room
Our Crawford room is a gentle and nurturing first step away from home — a calm, familiar space where babies feel safe, loved, and supported.
Our educators follow each child’s unique routines and cues, creating the right balance of sensory play, comfort, and rest.
In this warm, home-like environment, learning begins from the very first days of life. We work closely with you to blend home routines and learning styles, making the transition into early education smooth and reassuring for both you and your baby.
A typical day in the Crawford Room
We shape each day around your baby’s individual needs, rather than a set schedule. When you arrive, we take a few moments to check in with you about how your baby slept and anything else we should know.
From there, we follow your child’s cues — settling them for sleep when they’re tired, offering feeds when they’re hungry, and engaging them in gentle, sensory-rich play when they’re ready to explore.
With an additional educator in the room, your baby is always closely supported, comforted, and nurtured throughout the day.
Philosophy in practice
In the Crawford room, adventure and exploration begin early. Our educators respond to each baby’s individual rhythm — watching closely for cues and building trust through consistent, calm care.
This flexible, child-led approach allows every baby to feel secure and understood, laying the foundation for curiosity and confidence. And because we know how hard it can be to leave your little one, parents are always welcome to call as often as they need for reassurance.
Transitioning and settling
We understand that starting childcare is a big step — for both babies and parents. To make the process gentle, we offer three free one-hour orientation sessions so you can get to know us gradually.
Before your baby’s first day, we use a detailed child profile you complete to create a familiar space from the start — perhaps by having their favourite toy or blanket ready. These small, thoughtful touches help your baby settle more easily and give you peace of mind knowing they’re in loving, capable hands.
